THE
GOSPEL : ACCORDING TO BLACK P.R.O.F.I.T.
“Check the manuscript, the man is sick, my plan is to change the
whole planet script.” Cedrick
Frazier, a.k.a. Black P.R.O.F.I.T.,
undeniably has a strong sense of
confidence and purpose as indicated by the line
above. The acronym, P.R.O.F.I.T.,
stands for People Rise Over Falsely-Instilled
Thought. And, rightfully so. I witnessed

first hand the passion and dedication that this
upcoming emcee from H-Town has for
his craft.
Locked up in a
downtown area recording studio for several hours,
Black P.R.O.F.I.T.
meticulously added vocals to some blazing, neck-jerking beats with
the beneficial assistance of his sound engineer. The creative
process was truly amazing. There is just
something beautiful and magical about
tirelessly laboring at voicing your thoughts and combining
them with rhythmic sounds with the result being a quality product
that is yours. This is unfortunately a time in hip hop,
specifically rap music, where so much emphasis is placed on image
and less on substance and content. There is a desire to turn out
album after album, single after single with such expediency that
it appears no effort or heart is put into actually making the
record. Black P.R.O.F.I.T. is
here to preserve and revolutionize the art form with his jewels of
wisdom.
His debut album,
“Altar Call”, features
sixteen tracks that serve as an open diary,
revealing BP’s
inner most thoughts and life experiences. The son of a preacher,
he
masterfully shares his struggle between good
and evil as a result of ongoing spiritual
warfare; something we all can relate to. The
beauty about this MC/2nd Year Law
Student is that he is able to switch up his
style and flow throughout the album, but his
socially-conscious content never disappears in
the process. Just because you change
from a smooth, melodic beat to a staccato, Lil
Johnesque crunk sound doesn’t mean
you automatically have to talk about pimpin’
hoes and spinnin’ rims. And yes, the
beats are bangin’. While having a difficult
time selecting singles for the album,
Black
P.R.O.F.I.T.
is very excited and extremely proud of
"Altar Call". Many great artists
never get an opportunity to shine because of
record label politrix, but, hopefully he gets
his chance to bring back real Hip Hop.
